This Is Why Good People Suffer

“Understanding the Paradox of Pain and Resilience”

If you’ve ever wondered, “Why do things go bad for me just when things were going good”, “I can’t catch a break”, or even “I can’t win for losing” – then your answer is here.

You’ve heard the saying, “Got to take the good with bad”. Even though it’s spattered around so often, plenty of people understand the meaning but fail to understand why that is the case. Why you have to be able to “Take the good with the bad”.

The person who doesn’t understand why life has its ups and downs, is the person who suffers from; pessimism, misery, and lack of ambition to achieve. The person who does understand why life has its ups and downs, is the person who ravishes with; persistence, hopefulness, and ‘rolls with the punches’.

Positives and Negatives: The Law of Polarity

The Law of Polarity is a philosophical principle derived from “Taoism”, that states two poles exist for everything.

Meaning, there are “two sides of each coin”. For every positive outcome, there exists a negative; for every ying – exists its’ yang; for every opportunity for progression – exists the opportunity for regression. In finances, history has shown that when the “market is booming” (1st pole – positive) – a recession has followed its’ path (2nd pole – negative).

Morgan Housel, New York’s Times best selling author, has a chapter in his book, “The psychology of money”, titled ‘Luck and Risk’ – which expands on the concept that for every person who has benefited from luck (1st pole – positive), exist another who has suffered from the negative outcome of risk (2nd pole – negative).Nasir Jones, an American emcee (one of which plenty will consider to be one of the greatest), once rapped in his song titled, “Nas is like”: “Freedom or jail?, clips inserted, a baby’s being born the same time a man is murdered, the beginning and end…”.Freedom (1st pole – positive) or jail (2nd pole – negative)?, clips inserted, a baby’s being born (1st pole – positive) the same time a man is murdered (2nd pole – negative), the beginning (1st pole – positive) and end (2nd pole – negative)…”.

Positives and Negatives: “Your turn”

This Taoistic principle can be applied to all your life events. If so, it gives you the opportunity to be like the great successors of the world who have failed many times in their lives while pursuing their goals. People like Jeff Bezoz, owner and founder of Amazon (1st pole – positive), who has had multiple failed Amazon products (2nd pole – negative). Kevin Hart, a famous American comedian (1st pole – positive), who has written many underwhelming jokes (2nd pole – negative). Katherine Hepburn, a famous American actress who’s won the most academy awards with 4 total (1st pole – positive), who has also walked home empty handed with 8 academy awards going to another actor/actress (2nd pole – negative).

So take this as a motivator on your life journey, that with success comes failure. Giving up on your goals so you can avoid failure only stops you from experiencing achievement.
